Proposed Bylaw Changes

On September 21, 2013 at the R4 Benefit Ride there will be a general meeting for all current Region 4 members.  On the agenda for discussion are needed changes to our bylaws.  To review these changes please see the following document. Please contact Jean Green or Patti Hicks with any questions.

From the Interim President – Jean Green

The board has accepted Kim Winterrowd’s resignation. We appreciate her years of service as Region 4 President.

The Board of Directors has honored me (or is that shanghaied?) with an appointment as the interim President. With the elections coming up and Patti so busy with the nominations (a job specified for the VP), she did not want to abandon her work. She has been handling both positions. Thank you Patti for stepping in and sticking with it. I will do my best to serve Region 4 for the rest of the year.

There will be a general membership meeting at the Region Four Benefit Ride September 21 – 22. At this meeting we will vote on some overdue bylaw changes to make our election process coincide with the National Directors election, since this has been turned over to the individual Regions. We must have our National Directors elected before the November Meeting of the NATRC Board of Directors. So, when you get your ballot, it will include Nominees for both the Regional Board and the National Board. Remember to follow the instructions on the ballots and get them back on time.

The ball caps for first time riders are a hit! We have 34 ball caps in possession for future rides. Brenda Hagler has placed an order for NATRC logo caps to be offered for sale through her business. We will have more information on how you can get one shortly!

Linda Reuland Memorial Fund

The BOD is working on a plan to remember Linda with a High Point Combo Award for 1st Time Competitors at each ride.

Get Ready for the Fall Rides:

• September 7-8 Wimberley Wayfarer in Dripping Springs, Texas
• September 21-22 Region 4 Benefit at LBJ Grasslands in Decatur, Texas.
• October 5-6 Robbers Route at Robbers Cave State Park, Wilburton, Oklahoma
• October 19-20 Horsemasters at Alert Academy in Big Sandy, Texas
• November 2-3 Last Chance at the Ok Corral at Lake Carl Blackwell, Stillwater, Oklahoma

Board of Directors Meeting

Hello members and friends!

I want to invite you all to attend a Regional BOD meeting that we will be having on Saturday, June 22nd. It will be held in Gainesville, Tx at the Neu Ranch House restaurant on 82 (

We will begin at 11 am and anticipate finishing things up at about 2 pm. An agenda will be made available shortly: basically some committee reports and the usual financial updates from Shirley. One important item will be determining the appropriate use of the funds donated in memory of our dear friend Linda R.

If you cannot attend but wish to send comments/questions etc...please email them to me directly at

Also, we will be holding a General Membership meeting at the Region 4 Benefit ride at the LBJ Grasslands on September 21st. I will work with Anette to set the exact time.

All members and friends are welcome to attend these meetings.

Ok Land Run Weather

Oklahoma Land Run riders! Spring is in the air! Recent warm weather in some areas may be letting our brains put those cold winter days behind us. But, do remember, this is Oklahoma, and March can give us any kind of weather. So please be sure to pack warm blankets for you and your horse, and hopefully you will not need them. Also, you may want to bring a buddy heater for yourself, or to loan to another if temps do drop at night. With so many new riders, maybe an extra horse blanket tossed in for anyone who forgets to pack one. If we are prepared for chilly weather, maybe it will pass on by!
